As every year and after the end of the summer, the Instituto Cervantes has published all the dates for the 2022 exam to obtain Spanish nationality.
In the coming year 2022, there will be 10 calls to sit the cultural test (CCSE). There will be calls to sit the CCSE during all months except August and December.
The cultural test or CCSE test is a test that is taken in order to obtain Spanish nationality. In order to obtain the APTO and obtain the nationality, you must also pass the DELE A2 exam at least. If you have not passed these two official Spanish exams, you will not be able to apply for Spanish nationality.
DATES FOR THE 2022 SPANISH NATIONALITY EXAM
This coming year 2022 there will be 10 CCSE exam sittings spread throughout the year.
The registration deadlines for the first semester started on 7 September 2021. Therefore, we will already be able to register for the test from January to July 2022.
If we want to take the nationality test from September 2022, the registration period begins on 1 October 2021. And finally, if our intention is to sit for the last months of 2022, which will be October, November and December, registration will open on 1 December 2021.
The CCSE test is always held on the last Thursday of each month, except for August and December, when there is no exam. The timetable for the exam will always be 20:00 local time where the CCSE exam takes place.
In the following table you can see in more detail all the official dates to take the test, as well as the closing date for registration to take the test in that call.

WHERE TO TAKE THE CCSE TEST IN 2022
If you are going to take the 2022 exam to obtain the CCSE nationality test, the Instituto Cervantes has many accredited centres all over the world. To find out where your nearest accredited centre is, I leave you a link where you can consult all the centres around the world.
APPLICATION FOR REFUNDS FOR THE SPANISH NATIONALITY TEST
As was the case in 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Instituto Cervantes has relaxed its policy on cancellations or refunds.
The Cervantes Institute will refund the fee or change the date of the exam for those students who have symptoms compatible with COVID-19 on the date before taking the exam. For its part, the Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to request medical proof.
On the other hand, the student has the right to request the amount of the examination fees within a maximum period of 14 days from the date of registration at the Instituto Cervantes. This process, as long as it is within the 14-day period, does not require a justified cause.
TIPS FOR PREPARING FOR THE CCSE AND DELE A2 TESTS
At Paula Ribas Escuela de Español Online, we have experience in preparing our students to be able to obtain Spanish nationality without problems and fully qualified.
The students at the Spanish language school carry out all the tasks required to pass both the DELE exam and the CCSE test on a daily basis.
Here are some tips on how to choose the right person to prepare for the test:
- To prepare for the DELE, I recommend that the teacher is an official examiner for the Instituto Cervantes. Not only do you need to have the level, but you also need to know the type of exam and the tasks you will have to do.
- To prepare for the CCSE test, make sure that your teacher is a native speaker, as she will know her country, its culture and how it is organised.
Paula Ribas, our teacher fulfils all these requirements so that you can obtain the APTO and be able to apply for the longed-for Spanish nationality.
