The Dele is divided into six levels.
Level A1: Accredits sufficient linguistic competence to understand and use everyday expressions of very frequent use in any part of the Spanish-speaking world, aimed at satisfying immediate needs.
Level A2: This DELE qualification certifies that the candidate is able to understand sentences and frequently used everyday expressions related to areas of experience which are particularly relevant to him/her. They can give basic information about their family, shopping, places of interest and occupations.
Level B1: The first intermediate level of the DELE certifies sufficient linguistic competence to understand and react appropriately to the most common situations of everyday life and to communicate desires and needs in a basic way.
Level B2: Level B2 Spanish accredits sufficient linguistic competence to get by in everyday situations, in normal circumstances of communication that do not require specialised use of the language.
Level C1: The C1 level of Spanish certifies sufficient linguistic competence to express oneself clearly and without having to limit what one wants to say. Candidates for level C1 Spanish must have a good command of the language with idiomatic and colloquial Spanish expressions.
Level C2: The C2 level of Spanish is the highest level of Spanish. This level accredits the necessary linguistic competence to get by in situations that require a high level of use of the language and a knowledge of cultural habits.
